Dear Members of NEHS,
We hope this letter finds you happy, healthy, and excited about your progress report grades! A couple of days ago, we collected all money and order forms for our fundraiser. It was disappointing that only 11 members participated by turning in their forms and money. We would like to congratulate those who did contribute, with Irma Rashid, Justin Yale, and Chelsea Flieger bringing in single orders all over $60. Irma is our top seller - with sales totaling almost $300! Currently, we have raised $836. We know some people still are collecting money from people and need to get them in to us this week. A couple of people have come by today with orders and money.
Because participation was so low - we have decided to extend the sale until the end of the month. We need to reach our $2500 goal! As your sponsors, we are willing to throw a pizza party for all members who sell a minimum of $50 total. Several of those who sold have met this goal. We know some of you are having trouble selling, so here are some tips from our top sellers to help you out:
Tip #1 - Leave the catalog with your soon-to-be customer for an extended period of time. It is a large catalog and it takes time to look through everything. If it sits on their dining table or desk for multiple hours, they will be more inclined to look and purchase. Once someone has thoroughly looked at the jewelry - it will sell itself. (Mrs. Olsen has taken one to a teacher work room today and is waiting to see the results).
Tip #2 - This jewelry is a little pricey for your friends, right? Make sure to ask your teachers (especially the women) or other school personnel. Also, ask your parents to bring it to work with them, or take it by your neighbors' houses. Several teachers have shown an interest, so there are still people out there who would like to look at a catalog.
Tip #3 - The holidays are coming up! Point out to customers what great presents these would make for a sister, girlfriend, mother, grandmother, daughter, etc.
After what happened with the Shakespeare Tavern - 48 people signing up and 9 people attending - we are concerned about members' dedication. Should we continue to plan activities and trips if only a few will participate? If you are wishing to belong to the NEHS for the graduation cord or as something to put on your college transcript - you have joined for the wrong reasons. Sorry for the harshness, we do love you all and will continue working as hard as we have been for you, but is disappointing to see such a lackadaisical response from the majority of students to activities this early in the year. Hopefully, we will have 100% participation next week at the Induction Rehearsal (Wed.) and Ceremony (Thurs.). By the way, the Induction Rehearsal will be held in the courtyard between the theater and the 600-900 buildings at 2:20 pm. Continue to invite friends and family to join us for this special occasion.
We have some wonderful things planned for this year and will be sharing them with you next Wednesday, October 24. We are glad to see so many people signed up for Movie Day on Oct. 26th, and many have voted online for the movie we will be showing. Don't forget to sign-up if haven't yet. Remember that being inducted to the NEHS as a member does not guarantee retention of membership, participation in activities and services is required to maintain membership.
Again, thanks to those of you who sold and have turned in your money and forms. If you need more forms or catalogs, please see Mrs. Lusher. All money and order forms will be due Wed., Oct. 31st at 2:30. That is the absolute drop-dead last time for you to turn things in. Please continue to sell - or start to sell - we know you can do it!
Mrs. Lusher has sold $120 in orders - so it can be done!
Thanks,
Mrs. Julie Lusher and Mrs. Janan Olsen
